Sherri Curtis at the Sundance Film Festival

Come see Taylor Andrews Co-owner and Makeup Director Sherri Curtis at the Sundance Film Festival this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Sherri will be providing makeup for celebrities at the Mixmedia Luxury Lounge, 354 Main St. Park City. (Just down from the Egyptian theater)

Artistic Directors visit Redken Exchange in New York

Recently, Artistic Directors Lani Secrist and Meredith Trimmer visited the renowned Redken Exchange in New York City. The Exchange houses a 68-seat theater, flipchart-filled lecture hall where facilitators preach the grand theories of cutting, coloring, and building a business; and The Workshop, a lab equipped with cutting stations and a hair color bar, where professionals apply their newly expanded skills to mannequins and live models, while upbeat tunes blast in the background. Educators are top stylists and salon owners that have been backstage authorities for Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Prada, and Gucci. Teachers work three-at-a-time and take an interactive approach to monthly classes such as: Cut & Know Why and Coloring Out of Your Mind. Lani and Meredith were fortunate to be part of a class with Redken Artistic Director Chris Baran and had a great experience.

2010 Guest Artist Schedule

2009 Was an incredible year for National Guest Artists here at Taylor Andrews including Phillip and Mary Wilson, Geno Stampora, Nicholas French, Yosh Toya, Henry Calcagno, Keith Bryce, Brian and Sandra Smith, Peter Mahoney, Babak, and Faatemah Ampey. 2010 looks just as great, as nearly all of these amazing artists are scheduled to return as well as some new visitors later this year. First up for 2010 is motivational speaker Henry Calcagno who will be at Taylor Andrews February 23rd. Henry will be followed by North American Hairstylist Award winner Nicholas French on March 18th. Mission 45 Fire Bad Clients

Ask yourself this: “Would I rather spend my days working with incredibly amazing, -motivating, -exciting,  -supercool people who are both clients and friends, or spend one more agonizing minute of pure dread with barely tolerable clients who suck the life out of me?” Sometimes there are clients that are just not the right fit for you. Let go of those people who put you in a bad mood before they even show up. Help them find someone who is a better fit by suggesting that you may not be the best person to serve them. Life is just too short. Getting rid of the duds opens up room to work on the clients you really love.

Mission 44 Model Night

One day this week, -find someone that you can use as a model. Think about a new cut or color you saw in a magazine,  something you haven’t done before. Be experimental. Try a razor or clippers. Do something different. Grow. Push yourself. Spend a minimum of an hour for the haircut and maybe two hours for the color. Slow down. Enjoy the process. Learning and practicing are the lifeblood of any professional. Education leads to passion. If you’re bored, -you’ve probably lost your passion. Re-ignite your passion with learning, training and education.
